Austin Luedeman Obituary, SPENCER TOWNSHIP, Ind. — Austin Luedeman, 18, of North Vernon, Indiana, has lost her life following a single-vehicle crash in Spencer Township, Jennings County, on Thursday morning, August 13, 2026.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 6:41 a.m., after Jennings County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a single-vehicle accident in Spencer Township. Deputies with the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and located a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck that had left the roadway.
According to investigators, the pickup initially left the north side of the roadway before appearing to overcorrect. The vehicle then crossed the roadway, left the south side and overturned multiple times. Luedeman suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased.
The circumstances surrounding what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway remain under investigation. Authorities have not released additional information explaining what led Luedeman to lose control of the pickup.
Toxicology results are also pending as part of the probe. Officials said that, at this time, investigators do not suspect alcohol or drugs were contributing factors in the crash.
Several local agencies assisted at the scene, including Jennings County EMS, Jennings County Dispatch, the Spencer Township Fire Department, the Jennings County Coroner’s Office and Lucas Wrecker Service.
The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the fatal single-vehicle crash. No further information was at once available, and additional details may be released as the investigation progresses.
